Announcing the HCHS 2026 Winter Lecture Series

We at the Huntingdon County Historical Society are pleased to announce our Winter Lecture Series for this year. The lectures are free and open to the public – donations are always appreciated, however. Lectures will take place on the third Sunday of January, February and March and will begin at 2:00 p.m.

The first lecture will be on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and will take place at our Exhibit Gallery located at 100 Fourth Street in Huntingdon. Our speaker is Ken Burton who will tell us about the history of a site in Ardenheim which produced the Webb Collection of prehistoric and historic artifacts. This collection was gathered over many years by the late Cyril T. “Tom” Webb and donated to the historical society. Selected items from the Webb Collection will be on display at the lecture. Ken Burton is a local avocational archaeologist and historical society volunteer who catalogued the Webb Collection.

The second lecture will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and will also take place at our Exhibit Gallery located at 100 Fourth Street in Huntingdon. February’s speaker will be Paul Fagley, and he’ll speak on the history of the Juniata people, a local Native American tribe. Paul is a retired historian.

The third lecture will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and will take place in the Lodge at the Isett Heritage Museum located at 11941 Stone Creek Ridge Road in Huntingdon. Our speaker will be Dr. Jonathan Burns who will talk about his recent archaeological discoveries. Dr. Burns is a professor at Juniata College who has excavated many pre-Revolutionary War, and Revolutionary War-period sites around the state. We are excited to partner with Juniata College to present this lecture.
