The Huntingdon County Historical Society is pleased to participate in this year’s Free Museum Day on Saturday, September 19, 2026. We’ll be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for research and tours of the downstairs portion of the McMurtrie House, located at 106 Fourth Steet in Huntingdon.
Join us at 11:00 a.m. for a slice of cake as we celebrate the 239th anniversary of the founding of Huntingdon County.
Drop by our Exhibit Gallery at 100 Fourth Street to see the items recovered from the time capsule placed in the courthouse by the Standing Stone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during the Bicentennial celebrations. Items will be on display Saturday only from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. These items include magazines from 1976, clothing, household items and things made by children from William Smith Elementary and Alfarata Elementary. If you placed items in the time capsule and would like to keep your item, it may be picked up on Saturday.
