Due to the July 4th holiday and the arrival of the Union Pacific’s Big Boy in Huntingdon on July 8, we’ve made some adjustments to our hours.
Although we’re typically open the first Saturday of each month, in July that day falls on July 4. So that our staff and volunteers can spend time with their families we will be closed that day. We will be open the following Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The historical society will also be closed all day on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 since the Union Pacific’s Big Boy will be passing through Huntingdon. This event will cause Fourth Street to be shut down to motor vehicle traffic for a few hours. If you’re in town to see the locomotive, stop by our Exhibit Gallery at 100 Fourth Street to view an exhibit of steam train photos taken by East Broad Top Railroad photographer Matthew Malkiewicz.
We will be open regular Wednesday hours from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on July 1, July 15, July 22 and July 29.
