Since 1831, the Huntingdon County Fair has been a centerpiece of community life and one of Pennsylvania's premier agricultural exhibitions, second only to the Pennsylvania Farm Show.This early 1900s photograph captures a hot air balloon ascending above the fairgrounds, offering a glimpse of one of the many attractions that drew visitors year after year. As automobile travel became more accessible in the late 1930s, Pennsylvania's state parks welcomed a new generation of campers arriving with travel trailers and all the comforts they could bring from home. Greenwood Furnace, established as a state park in 1924, became a popular destination for families seeking affordable outdoor recreation.
